What is a dental inlay?

A dental inlay is a pre-moulded filling that is used to restore a tooth that has a cavity or has been chipped or decayed. Inlays are a good option when a filling is not enough, but a crown is too much.

Once in place, a same day dental crown or inly will look just like any natural tooth and will be virtually indistinguishable from the rest of your teeth.

It used to be common for crown procedures to be a long and drawn out process. On average,dental laboratories might require at least ten days to make a crown for a single tooth, meaning you have made multiple visits to the dentist's chair.

At Brite Dental, we can both create and fit a crown and inlay in just a single day. Using the latest digital technology in dentistry, the entire process is completed in one visit. These state-of-the-art systems ensure we are always at the forefront of cutting-edge technology and able to give the best treatment options to our patients.

You will attend for your first appointment in the morning where we will prepare the tooth that has to be restored. We will then use the latest cad cam technology and take an intra oral scan of your tooth to produce a 3D image of your tooth (this replaces the traditional and uncomfortable impressions). You are then free for a couple of hours while we send the scan to our dental laboratory who design your restoration which we then mill and make your restoration in the practice. When youreturn for your fit appointment in the afternoon, we will then cement your restoration which will be cured and set there and then.
